Traces of Musafir
An official installation of Dubai Design Week 2025
Concept
Traces of Musafir takes visitors on a journey through impermanence — a barefoot sand walk, a path of reflection and a moment of stillness, built from CNC-cut timber, clay and lime plaster, sand and a recycled-plastic seat.
Selected as an official installation of Dubai Design Week 2025, it is the studio's philosophy made physical: we are all travellers, and what remains of us is the trace we leave.
01 — Barefoot Sand Walk
Shoes off. The journey begins in sand — each footprint a temporary signature, erased by the next visitor. The ground itself teaches the installation's first lesson: presence is brief, traces remain.

02 — Path of Reflection
CNC-cut timber ribs rise around a narrowing path, their rhythm slowing your pace. Clay and lime plaster — materials that breathe and age — carry the light differently at every hour of the festival.

03 — Moment of Stillness
The path resolves into a single quiet room: a recycled-plastic seat, a framed void, silence inside Dubai Design Week's noise. Visitors sit as Musafirs — travellers pausing between departures.
